About This Guide

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a Central Sector Scheme launched on December 1, 2018, providing income support of ₹6,000 per year to all eligible farmer families across India. Step-by-Step Application Process

Follow these steps in order. Each step is critical - skip none.

Visit PM-KISAN Portal
Open https://pmkisan.gov.in - the only official portal. Beware of scam sites asking for fees - PM-KISAN is FREE.
Click "New Farmer Registration"
On homepage, find "Farmers Corner" section, click "New Farmer Registration". Choose Rural Farmer or Urban Farmer based on your land location.
Enter Aadhaar and Mobile
Enter Aadhaar number, captcha code, and mobile number. Click "Click Here to Continue". OTP will be sent to Aadhaar-linked mobile.
Verify OTP
Enter the OTP received on Aadhaar-linked mobile. If your mobile is not linked with Aadhaar, update it first at any Aadhaar center.
Fill Personal Details
Enter name as per Aadhaar, gender, category (General/SC/ST/OBC), date of birth, father/husband name. Be exact with spellings - any mismatch with Aadhaar causes rejection.
Enter Address and Bank Details
State, District, Sub-District (Tehsil), Block, Village. Bank account number and IFSC code. ENSURE Aadhaar is seeded with bank account - this is critical for DBT.
Land Holding Details
Provide Khasra/Khatauni number, area in hectares, and survey number. Land records are auto-fetched from state portals in many states - verify accuracy.
Self-Declaration
Check the declaration confirming you are not in any exclusion category (government employee, IT payer, professional). False declaration leads to recovery of money paid.
Submit and Save Reference Number
Click Submit. You'll get a registration reference number. Save screenshot and the number for future status tracking.
Complete e-KYC (CRITICAL)
Without e-KYC, NO installments will be released. Click "e-KYC" link, enter Aadhaar and OTP. Alternatively visit nearest CSC center with Aadhaar for biometric e-KYC.

What Happens After Application?

After registration, your application is verified by the state government within 30 days. Status checking is critical - visit pmkisan.gov.in → "Beneficiary Status" → enter Aadhaar/Mobile/Account number to track. e-KYC is MANDATORY annually. Without e-KYC, installments stop immediately. Three installments per year: April-July (1st), August-November (2nd), December-March (3rd). Money credits within 7-15 days of installment release.
