About This Guide

Kisan Credit Card (KCC) is a credit scheme to provide farmers with timely access to credit for cultivation, farming needs, allied activities, and consumption needs. Launched in 1998, simplified through KCC Saturation Drive in 2020. Loan limit: Up to ₹3 lakh at concessional 4% interest (7% normal - 3% prompt repayment incentive). Above ₹3 lakh, regular agricultural loan rates apply. Now covers fisheries, dairy, animal husbandry. PM-KISAN beneficiaries automatically eligible. Over 7 crore active KCC accounts. Card features cash withdrawal, swipe at POS, online transactions for agri purchases.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Follow these steps in order. Each step is critical - skip none.

Visit Bank Branch
Approach nearest bank branch where you have account or willing to open one. KCC available at all banks - SBI, PNB, BOB, Canara, RRBs, cooperatives. Public sector banks have most outreach.
Get KCC Application Form
Ask for KCC application form. Most banks have separate forms for: Fresh KCC, Renewal/Enhancement, Allied activities. PM-KISAN beneficiaries: ask for "Simplified KCC Form" (3 pages instead of 9).
PM-KISAN Verification
If PM-KISAN beneficiary, mention this on form. Bank verifies via PM-KISAN database. Application processed in 14 days under PM-KISAN saturation drive. Without PM-KISAN: regular 30-day process.
Fill Personal and Land Details
Personal: Name, DOB, Aadhaar, PAN, address, mobile. Land: Survey number, area in acres/hectares, ownership type (own/leased/sharecropper), villages, district.
Crop Pattern and Loan Amount
List crops grown by season (Kharif/Rabi/Zaid). Major crops, expected production. Loan amount needed - based on land × scale of finance per crop. Bank calculates max eligibility.
Allied Activities
If having dairy/fisheries/poultry, mention details. Each activity has separate scale of finance. KCC limit can include allied activities too. ₹2 lakh sub-limit for allied activities.
Attach Documents
Self-attested photocopies of: Aadhaar, PAN, land documents (Khasra/Khatauni - 7-year extract), address proof, photographs, bank statement. Originals shown for verification.
Submit Form to Bank
Submit at agricultural section of bank. Get acknowledgment receipt with reference number. PM-KISAN beneficiaries: ensure "PM-KISAN" stamped on receipt.
Bank Verification
Bank officer may visit your land for verification. Confirms ownership, crops, infrastructure. Gather neighbors as witnesses. Be courteous and cooperative.
Approval and KCC Issuance
Bank approves limit based on land × scale of finance. Loan amount ₹50K-3L common (limit goes up to ₹10L for large farmers). Receive KCC card (RuPay debit-like card) + passbook. Sanction letter shows credit limit.
Activate and Use
Card activated within 1-2 days. Use for: ATM withdrawal, POS swipe at agri input shops (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides), cheque book for large purchases. Keep PIN safe.
Repay After Harvest
Repay within 12 months (15 months for some crops). Pay before due date for 3% interest subsidy (reducing rate from 7% to 4%). Default damages credit + future loans difficult.

I don't have land documents - can I get KCC?

Interest rate for KCC?

Yes, KCC for allied activities even without crop cultivation. Dairy, fisheries, poultry, beekeeping, sericulture eligible. Limit set per activity scale of finance.
KCC suspended - what to do?
